My name is Will Clymer. I live in the small town of Guthrie, OK. I
was a history major in college, and I am an avid outdoorsman. Over the years I have aquired a passion for the Native
American ways and culture. With this passion I have learned some of the Native American skills. My fiance, Kelley, and I have
been camping out for years now in a teepee, and I have learned the lost art of hide tanning. I use the traditional method
of brain tanning, and have since realized that I am a rare commodity. Apparently, there are only a handful of traditional
brain tanners in the WORLD. Wow. How bout that? My hobby has become my trait.
You would not believe all the questions I get about our teepee and my hide tanning. So...Kelley thought
it would be a great idea to go global. Gotta love the newfangled internet. We are here to answer all the questions curious
minds want to know.
Let me start by answering a couple right now:
Yes, I am interested in doing tanning for others. I have a handful of orders already. We don't know just how
in demand I will be. If I get enough requests I will see about making it a full time job if possible.
I tan all animal hides...with or without hair. It takes about 2 weeks, give or take. Buffalo, deer, elk, coyote,
etc. (Haven't done moose or bear yet, but would love to. We don't have those here in OK.)
Check out the rest of the site. We will soon have lots of pics and will keep them updated. I will also put
some good links up for you soon.
